ASCUTNEY MOUNTAIN RESORT CONTINUES ITS EVOLUTION
AS A MAJOR VERMONT DESTINATION WITH HOLIDAY INN CLUB AFFILIATION

Ascutney Mountain Resort, known for great skiing and riding and its family-oriented slope side village, announced today that its village hotel is now a member of Holiday Inn Club Vacations™. “This really is another terrific step forward for the resort and a first for Vermont.    We couldn’t be more thrilled for Ascutney and our surrounding communities,” said Steve Plausteiner, who with his wife Susan remain the owners and master real estate developers of the resort. “With the recent approval of our new village master plan, Ascutney Mountain Resort will be building amenities as great as its much heralded ski/ride terrain.”

The Holiday Inn Club Vacations connection comes just months after the Plausteiner’s’ sale of the village hotel to Orange Lake, the nation’s largest privately held timeshare development company. Orange Lake’s initial acquisitions at Ascutney came in 2007, when the company purchased the Bennington and Essex condominium buildings at Ascutney.  In September, Orange Lake Resorts, a leader within the timeshare industry for more than 25 years, and InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), the world’s largest hotel company, announced their strategic alliance and new timeshare brand, Holiday Inn Club Vacations™.

Ascutney Mountain Resort will benefit from IHG’s extensive marketing and distribution network which will expose the resort’s vacation packages to more than 16 million IHG Priority Club members and reservation system which booked 160 million guests in 2008.

Since selling the village real estate to Orange Lake, the Plausteiner’s have concentrated on managing the mountain operations and planning and designing the 10-year build out of the Ascutney Mountain Resort Master Plan.

“We’re looking forward to the development expertise that Orange Lake has perfected over the last 25 years plus the hospitality and international sales and marketing strength that InterContinental will bring to Ascutney.  The national presence of their Holiday Club Vacations project will be the cornerstone in our ongoing commitment to provide a quality resort vacation experience while we continue designing and building the balance of the resort master plan,” added Plausteiner.

Ascutney Mountain Resort boasts 1,800 feet of vertical with 57 trails and 50 acres of glades. The mountain has Vermont’s only 10-acre lift-served dedicated beginner and novice area. The resort also offers 25 kilometers of Nordic and snowshoe trails.

Located just six miles off Interstate 91, Ascutney Mountain Resort is convenient to the Upper Valley as well as Woodstock and Rutland, VT, Lebanon and Manchester, New Hampshire and is less than a three hour drive from Hartford, CT and Boston.

InterContinental Hotels Group is the largest hotel company in the world with more than 4,150 hotels in more than 100 countries. The company operates under brands that include Intercontinental Hotels and Resorts, Crowne Plaza, Indigo, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Staybridge Suites and Candlewood Suites.
